Fasting for baby Alli

Five weeks ago one of my best friends gave birth prematurely to her firstborn Alli. She was born at 28 weeks, weighing 1 lb. 12 oz. Her first five weeks of life have been not in the arms of her mommy, but in an incubator. All of you mom’s out there can only imagine what my friend is going through. Although Alli was strong when she was born and able to breathe on her own, there have been some circumstances that have moved her from the NICU to RNICU. She has already had two blood transfusions, which is pretty common for preemies, and started retaining fluid three weeks ago. Because of the fluid retention she has to be on a ventilator to help her breath. She also has two drainage tubes in her little chest to help with the build up of fluid.

Alli is a beautiful, strong little girl. When her mommy talks to her she follows her voice with her eyes. When her mommy speaks or just touches her all of her vitals go to normal, the peace her mom brings her is more powerful than all the sticks and needles she experiences throughout the day. She knows her daddy’s face and voice already too and responds to him with her eyes as well.

As I was praying for her a couple of days ago I really felt impressed to blog about her and ask anyone who would to fast with Trey and I for 7 days. If you can take one day, one meal, or fast one meal for 7 days for this precious baby. We are going to start Sunday, Aug. 3rd. We are believing God to do a miracle this week for her. Here are some ways we will be praying:

*Whatever is causing her body to retain fluid to be healed

*Her organs to grow and mature as God intended

*Peace and rest for her while her mommy and daddy are not there

*Strength for her parents

*Her doctors and nurses to have wisdom and knowledge in treating her

Please comment and let me know if you would like to participate with us.

Note: the first two pics were taken when Alli was 2 weeks old and the bottom pic is the most recent I have taken a week and a half ago.

  2. Hey Becky,

I just emailed with Janna today about Alli. I will participate in the fast. Count me in for a meal a day. Thanks for doing this. I am going to post a blog with a link to yours about Alli. Hopefully we can get many prayer warriors joining with us. Love you.
